How to Check for Monsters

A common thing when trying to put young children to bed is that often they will be scared of monsters in their closet or under their bed. This article is a simple way to show children there are no monsters.

1.Try to convince the child that the monsters are gone and went to bed.
Or tell them that the monster is actually a friend and is protecting the child from harm.

2.If that doesn’t work, let the child see you check under his or her bed, in the closet, and anywhere else they might think the monsters might hide.
Also, let them get up and check with you. If they don’t want to, don’t force them.

3.If the child still thinks the monsters are hiding somewhere, take a spray bottle and fill it with water.
Then label it something like “Monster Away”. Then spray the bottle around to “get rid of the monsters”.

4.Perhaps you can buy a nightlight and put it in the room so there are few shadows, although it could make your child scared because they might think you’re the monster if are going somewhere in the middle of the night.

5.If your child is still restless or wide awake after this, try reading them a happy story.
If you’re feeling bold, it can even be about a misunderstood monster.

6.Leaving the door cracked is also a good idea, although there is a chance of scaring the child even more because if there are lights on, and someone is walking in the hallway, the shadows could scare the child.
